Mario Bellini

World-renowned architect and designer Mario Bellini, born in Milan in 1935, is one of the leading designers of Italian design. His oeuvre consists of architecture, urban planning, furniture and industrial design.
He collaborated with Olivetti and Cassina, resulting in an early knowledge of synthetic resins and polyurethanes. Bellini’s post-modern designs are innovative and technically complex. His work is original and has organic shapes.

Mario Bellini designs

Iconic designs are Camaleonda de Amanta Chair (1966) and Le Bambole Sofa (1972), all for B&B Italia. The 412 Cab Chair (1976) and Victoria Series (1982) for Cassina. The Bellini Chair (1998) for Heller, who won a Compasso d’Oro in 2001. Bellini has also designed for major international companies such as Artemide, Brionvega, Fiat, Flos, Pirelli, Renault, Rosenthal, Tecno, Vitra and Yamaha.
From the 1980s, Bellini devoted almost entirely to architecture.
