In 1889, Giovanni Bonacina founded his small business in the ancient art of Lombardy basket makers. He had gained a lot of experience working with rattan furniture manufacturers from Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
At the turn of the century, Givanni Bonacina began to export its products. The high quality of the design and the fine precision work resulted in winning the gold medal at the London and Paris stock exchanges in 1909 and in Rome in 1910. Of this period are also prestigious projects such as Villa d’Este on Lake Como. Mario Mollino regularly used this peacock chair for erotic photos with models.
In the 1950s Vittorio Bonacina (Giovanni’s son) understands the importance of collaborating with important designers such as Albini, Helg, Crespi, Forges Davanzati, Sambonet and many others. The Bonacina’s line of products became a reference point for Italian designers during that period. Vittorio Bonacina’s company is now represented by his son Mario Bonacina, who is both manager and designer. Always looking for the right balance between craftsmanship and design. A pursuit of perfection means the best materials, craftsmanship and patience.
